Tucked away just north of Kochi, Kadamakudy/ Kadamakkudy is a tranquil cluster of 14 interconnected islands. Even though the islands are less than 30 minutes from Kochi city centre, its confusing to find the exact location to start exploring the islands. While it feels like a world apart, getting to Kadamakudy is surprisingly easy with a few smart choices.
Boarding Point
To explore the island, its crucial you must reach the right boarding point. The easiest and best way to access the islands is to reach Kothad Islands, which is connected to Kochi city via the Container Road. The rest of the islands can be accessed by boats, e-bike or kayaks.

Access By Road
- From Kochi City: Kadamakudy / Kadamakkudy is just 10–12 km from MG Road or Fort Kochi.
- Taxi/Auto: Easily available from Ernakulam Town or Edappally. Use navigation to Kothad Bridge, Moolampilly, or Pizhala ferry point.
- Private Vehicle: Recommended for flexible movement, especially if you want to explore multiple islands.
By Train
- Nearest major stations: Ernakulam Town (North) or Ernakulam Junction (South).
- From either station, take a cab or local bus to Kadamakudy in about 30–40 minutes.
By Bus
- Board buses heading to Varapuzha, Kothad, or Cheranalloor from Ernakulam’s main bus stands.
- Get down at Kothad, and take a short rickshaw ride or ferry to reach various islands.
By Air
- Cochin International Airport (CIAL) is around 30 km away.
- A prepaid taxi or app-based cab (like Uber) can take you to Kadamakudy in under an hour, traffic permitting.
Getting Around the Islands
- Most inner islands are connected by narrow bridges or ferries.
- You can explore by electric boat, kayak, or E-bike—perfect for eco-friendly travelers.
